About Castello di Ama:

Castello di Ama is located about 12 miles northeast of Siena in the hills of Gaiole. This is the heart of Chianti Classico, a bucolic rolling landscape of woods, vineyards and olive groves. Historically this is Etruscan country and the wines of Castello di Ama are one of the oldest Chianti Classico wines ever produced.

The second generation owners and winemakers, Lorenza Sebasti, daughter of one of the original owners, and Marco Pallanti, after a 40-year labor of love, continue to share the same passion, vision and values of the founders. Broadening the winery’s scope by expanding vineyard holdings, modernizing viticultural and enological practices and establishing sustainable farming standards, Sebasti and Pallanti maintain the integrity of Tuscan values.

About Janice Herndon Verrecchia:

Janice, a business major at the University of Arizona went to Florence, Italy to study abroad in 1988. She was enthralled by the food, wine, people, beauty and lifestyle. After graduating in 1991, she moved to Florence.

Wine is such an element to life in Italy. That lead her to enroll in the Italian Sommelier program (AIS) and complete all three years in 1996. She was then part owner of a trattoria and her passion for wine took off. She has been the wine buyer for a restaurant group in Florence with nine locations since 2000.

Janice’s love for wine and travel lead her to become Brand Ambassador for Castello di Ama. Her admiration for Castello di Ama dates back two decades, as it has always been a leader among Italian wineries.  Ama is really a unique place in the world, and the wines reflect this in the glass.
