About Quinta de Saes:

Quinta de Saes is located in the northern part of the Dão, in Northern Central Portugal. The plots for this vineyard are planted to granite at 500m (1640 ft) elevation. The Dão has a temperate continental climate, protected from the cold winds of the Atlantic by the Luso Mountains, from the warm winds of Extremadura to the west by the Sierra da Estrela, and from the arid heat of the Douro by the Serra do Caramulo.

Xisto (“schisto”) Ilimitado is Luis Seabra’s Portuguese analogue of a village level Burgundy.  A field blend of six varietals planted across three subzones of Cima Corgo, Ilimitado is a survey of schist driven terroir of Douro.  The vines range from 38 to 58 years old.  Cima Corgo has a big diurnal shift, leading to increased hang time for the grapes.

About David Kemmerer:

National Sales Manager David Kemmerer joined the Ole & Obrigado team in 2009, but has sold this portfolio of wines in several capacities for the entirety of his wine career—and it never gets old! He first got to know Patrick Mata, cofounder of Ole Imports, in 2005 while working in wine retail in Georgia. David later joined one of the famous “Olé trips” while working as a brand manager in wine distribution. After finally having the opportunity to visit and connect in person with the winemarkers and wineries he had been selling for so many years, it all came together and he joined the team. Based in Atlanta, David manages the national network of distributors in the US, and spends his days sharing the work of passionate and innovative winemakers with trade partners around the country. A favorite “a-ha moment” memory comes from his first visit to Torremorón in Ribera del Duero, a winery unlike he had pictured in reading all the textbooks. The vision of a group of families pulling together an absolute treasure trove of old vineyards and making a simple wine for all to consume and enjoy with family and friends continues to inspire him, and he’s been hooked ever since.
